CAPSTONE | Forma Presentation

After my user testing for the Forma app, I was sent to a creative agency called Paradowski Creative, that’s located in the heart of St. Louis, MO. I was assigned to present with the Interactive Creative Director and Associate Creative Director, Dan Rayfield and Matt Heidenreich.

I started off by showing my Powerpoint presentation of the app. I introduced the app by explaining the brand overview, design process (that included a mood board), three personas, user testing results and overview. After my presentation, I gave them my phone to experience the app firsthand.

FEEDBACK

Things that they liked:

  • Design of the splash, login, and home screen
  • Design and interaction of the menu that slides out from the right of the screen
  • Would love to see Forma as a responsive website

Suggestions:

  • Use Ludus for presentations, especially if you are working from Adode XD
  • Keep the same design from the beginning and throughout the app
  • Use more of the space given in the design section of the app
  • Create more hierarchy with the confirmation, menu option, and payment screens
  • Change the typeface in the button of what the user selects
  • Change typeface in the progress bar as a condensed style
  • Adding photography within the jean design process, rather than showing one pair of jeans

ADJUSTMENTS

After discussing the likes and suggestions for Forma, I have created a list of what I plan on changing.

  • Redesign the jean design process, by adding photography for each category (Style, Fabric, Color, Detail, adding a hidden bar that contains information about the jeans, creating the same style of design throughout, and utilizing the space with the screen
  • Create more hierarchy through the billing process and every menu option screen
  • Chance the typeface within the jean design process on the progress bar and the buttons
  • Add a creating user page, quiz, and measurement tutorial for the app
  • Add additional icons, such as the time, service bars, battery life, and shopping cart.

AFTERMATH

Once my presentation was over, I felt that I handled myself very well. I kept an open mind with every suggestion and was able to answer every question about the app without hesitation. Matt and Dan gave helpful tips and suggestions on how Forma could be improved. Overall, I had a great experience and appreciated the time that Paradowski Creative took to allow me to present and discuss Forma.

If I could have done things differently, I would have used the Ludus program that would let me add my wireframes and previous designs into my presentation. I wasn’t able to bring a personal laptop for the presentation, so I didn’t have access of it.

What I learned about presenting and preparing for a presentation is to always have your overall design process on hand, especially if they want to ask questions on your journey of the design. You can never be too prepared or show too much, especially when it comes to design.
